The dawn of the 16th century saw the creation of Rojas' internationally successful tragicomedy about Calisto and Melibea, Celestina. The bawdy procuress Celestina works her "magic" for the young pair in this novel (drama?) that ushered in the Spanish Renaissance. Juan de la Cuesta Hispanic Monographs is pleased to include Patricia Sara Finch's translation of Celestina in our critical translation series (Serie de traducciones críticas, #15). Finch also edited the Spanish edition for students in the Cervantes & Co. Spanish Classics series.
